DescriptionThis albarello was produced in Naples or Vietri sul Mare, a town near Salerno which supplied maiolica to the Neapolitan market. The banderole spanning the length of this albarello spells out "LUCRETIA," possibly referring to the ancient Roman Lucretia, a popular exemplar of chastity for Renaissance women.
